Dave Berg is the head of Hemex Labs that stumbled into the CFIDS world by accident. Hemex main focus is infertility. The modern common way of treating infertility is using low dosage heparin because a high percentage of infertile women has coagulation issues. Many women with CFIDS reports that they symptoms disappeared when they went on to heparin.

The Berg protocol now includes both treatment of the infection (with both antibiotics and transfer factor) and coagulation.
